Narayan then assessed operational activities and passenger experiences on the operational RRTS corridor between Sahibabad and Modi Nagar North. The inspection continued into the Meerut section, where construction progress was examined, and discussions were held with engineers and site workers. The entire 82 km corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut is targeted for operation by June 2025. Currently, a 34 km section from Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North with eight stations is operational. NCRTC has unveiled the first electric vehicle charging station at the Sahibabad RRTS station, enhancing last-mile connectivity and promoting clean energy adoption. This station offers three slow charging units with a capacity of 3.3 kW each and one fast charging unit with a capacity of 30 kW for various electric vehicles. Users can monitor energy consumption and make online payments through a dedicated mobile app. In the future, these EV charging facilities will be expanded to other RRTS stations, including Ghaziabad, Guldhur, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi North. NCRTC aims to achieve 70% of the total energy requirements for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor through solar energy by installing solar plants at all elevated stations and depots. The organization's commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in their solar policy, adopted in March 2021, which aims to generate approximately 11 MW of renewable energy through rooftop solar plants at stations, depots, and other buildings over the next five years.
