This line will pass through 14 villages in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, requiring the acquisition of 86.26 hectares of land. In Uttarakhand, 51 hectares of land from 11 villages in Haridwar district has been acquired. The new railway line will shorten the distance between Delhi and Roorkee by 33 km. Currently, trains travel via Tapri, but the new line will provide a direct route from Deoband to Roorkee, reducing congestion on the main railway line.
