They also suggested long-term improvements like new railway lines connecting Sibsagar with Jorhat, Salona with Khumtai, Dibrugarh with Kanubari, and the development of Dhamalgaon Jn with an integrated terminal. ARPA also proposed various specific improvements, including the expansion of suburban services, the resumption of pre-COVID train services, the extension of certain train routes, the restoration of pre-COVID stoppages, the development of Dibrugarh Town station, and the provision of ramp facilities at stations. Long-term suggestions included the construction of new broad gauge lines to connect Sivasagar with Jorhat, Salona with Khumtai, and Dibrugarh with Kanubari, the rationalization of train routes to and from the northeast, the development of Dhamalgaon Jn, and the introduction of metro services in Guwahati.
